System shock 2 first playthrough build1/29/2024 RPG elements: The equipment management is fun and dynamic. I would have rather had a Deus Ex style ending: a choice between a biological future or an AI future, or perhaps destroying both. You always felt as if there was no good choice but to continue to go forward. I loved the hideousness of both the AI and the biological spawn of it. As an audiophile, this was my favorite part of the game. Audio tapes have a cast of voices with their own stories. My favorite aspect, the Audio: You can tell that a lot of work went into the audio engineering for this game. I picked it up on Steam for a steal, considering the depth of the game. But by the time I heard of it, it was already getting old and the graphics dated. A friend of mine, who has since gone on to become a computer scientist, loved System Shock and always tried to get me to play it. I'd been hearing about this game since I was a kid in high school.
